How Harvest Hosts works
Harvest Hosts are small, local businesses like vineyards and farms who allow RVers to park on their land. In exchange, you are expected to spend a minimum of $20 at the business you stay at, but it is not required.
All RV classes are allowed including Class A, B, and C. This also includes motor coaches, fifth wheel campers, travel trailers, toy haulers, camper vans, truck campers, and towed vehicles. Tents and/or sleeping in your car are not allowed.
In order to see which businesses are a part of the Harvest Hosts program, and in which locations, you need to sign up for a membership on the Harvest Hosts website.
There are currently multiple plans available starting at $99/year.
Harvest Hosts offers a membership program for seasoned RVers, full-timers, part-timers, and newbies. Harvest Host has been in business since 2015 and they’re growing every year.

2.) After signing up and registering as a new user, log in to your account dashboard and in the “Let’s find your next host!” section, click “Search by US State”.

3.) On the next page, you’ll see a map with all of the participating locations, as well as the restrictions and requirements for each location. You can search for a Harvest Host via the route you’re taking, by specific US State, or by destination.

4.) Once you find a host you would like to stay with, just reach out to them and ask them about their availability and if they are available to host you for the night. Each business listing provides pictures, details, address, contact information, and guest reviews. Some businesses may also have a Request a Stay button enabled so you can book directly online. If the host does not have the Request a Stay feature enabled, you must call them to inquire about their availability.

5.) After submitting a request to stay, your host will respond and let you know if they’re available on the date you’re requesting. Your host will also provide details about parking and checking in.
6.) That’s it! Your stay will get confirmed and booked. Just show up on the day of your stay and get ready to have fun in a unique location that you wouldn’t have been able to stay at otherwise.

During our review of Harvest Host, we found a lot of positives, as well as some negatives to using this service. So let’s go over some of those now.
Pros
It’s like Airbnb! Ditch the crowded, cookie-cutter campsites. You get to stay at unique spots and hidden gems throughout the country that many people have never even been to. Get an authentic, local experience and eat and drink delicious food at beautiful wineries and farms across America.
Hosts are flexible. The membership says that only overnight stays are allows and there are no hook-ups included, but it depends on the host. Some Harvest Hosts we reviewed allowed us to stay more than one night for free, depending on their availability. Some hosts also offered us amenities and hook-ups that we weren’t expecting, which is always great.
You get to support local businesses. Harvest Host members are asked to make a purchase from the farm, winery, or other host location they stay at. For example, if you stay at a winery, it’s expected that you buy a bottle of wine or something else, as appreciation for the free overnight stay and the local experience.
Bring your dogs and your kids. Depending on the host, you are allowed to bring kids and your dog(s) if you have them! Just look at the details for each host in your Harvest Host account and you’ll see what is and isn’t allowed for each host.
Affordable. If you’ve been traveling for a while, you know that a campground can be anywhere from $20 and up per night. Locations. There’s a lot of locations available, and more locations are being added all the time, so there might not be a site exactly where you need it.
Hosts are busy. Some hosts are unresponsive because they are usually a small business and it’s the owner who is managing everything, so you may not always get a response as fast as you need it.
